June Reflections: Listening, Learning, Moving Forward

June has been a month of engagement and momentum.

Over the past several weeks, I've spent time knocking doors across the district, sometimes with volunteers, sometimes with State House candidates, and always with the goal of listening. Every conversation reinforces my decision to run for State Senate. People want leaders who listen with the intent of learning and are focused on practical solutions that improve their daily lives. A hard-working approach helps, too!

I've also had the opportunity to participate in endorsement interviews and conversations with organizations representing workers, educators, and community members. These discussions have challenged me to think more deeply about the issues facing Connecticut and how I can best serve our communities in Hartford. Combined with what I'm hearing at the doors, these experiences are helping shape my legislative priorities around workforce opportunity, education, affordability, economic growth for our municipalities, and economic security for our families.

Beyond the campaign trail, June was filled with community events that remind me why I love this district.

Meet & Greet in Stratford

I attended Juneteenth celebrations, house parties, community gatherings, local development walkthroughs, and awareness walks and runs. These events showcase the energy, diversity, and commitment to community that make our towns special.

Speaking of community support, some people are surprised to learn that Connecticut has a public financing program for State Senate races. To qualify, candidates must raise over $20,000, including at least 300 individuals who live in the district.

What has inspired me most so far is the people behind my contributions. Nearly 140 supporters have already contributed just $5 to $10. Those small-dollar contributions represent something powerful: neighbors investing in a campaign they believe in.

As of today, our campaign has received support almost 260 residents across the district and raised more than $14,000 toward qualification. Every contribution, no matter the size, represents someone who believes we can bring people together and build a stronger future for our communities.

Heading into July, our goal is to complete the fundraising process and continue expanding our canvassing efforts so we can meet as many voters as possible before Election Day. I remain energized and grateful for the support and encouragement so many of you have shown. I will continue to earn your trust through election day and beyond.
